The "Port Jackson Championship" has a rich history, dating back to 1949/50 when it was hosted by the Port Jackson Club. This event was the pioneer in 16ft skiff sailing on the main harbour near the Sydney Harbour Bridge. After the Port Jackson Club ceased operations in 1954/55, the NSW 16ft Skiff Association took charge of the event for two seasons, and since 1957/58, it has been hosted by Manly 16s.

In recent years, the event has been sporadic, but the Manly 16s are thrilled to bring it back as a regular fixture on their annual calendar.

1986, No 1 Course: North / North East Winds

In 1986, the Sun-avco Sydney Harbour Marathon had a race map for the North East Course, exactly as it was on that specific day. This year, on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, the same route will once again pose a challenge for the 16-footers, starting at 1:30 pm.
